“From now on, I’ll describe the cities to you”, the Khan said, “in your journeys you will see if they exist.”

– Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities

Impossible Cities is a collaborative art project.

Inspired by Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, we decided to write our own collection of short stories using the format of cities to express dreams, desires, observations, ideas, and other interesting thoughts. Like Calvino’s cities, they exist in an abstract world where anything is possible, and most things are both literal and metaphorical.

Each city is accompanied by an illustration and a little bit of context on why we wrote it.
